About Pi Shoppe Tutoring

Dr. Lorena Mummert Ed.D. founded Pi Shoppe over 30 years ago when she began tutoring her peers in math and physics, unaware of the impact she would later make as an innovator of higher education. Dr. Mummert has curated a highly accomplished staff of Texas certified teachers to help the students in our program achieve their academic goals.

Our mission is to help close the educational gap that exists between different socioeconomic classes. We understand the needs of our local students and are committed to helping them succeed at every level. A family's wealth or educational history should never dictate a student's success in life. Everyone deserves an equal chance at education and The Pi Shoppe Foundation is here to help facilitate the way.


We receive donations and grants to cover the cost of tutoring for qualifying families in financial need.

Tutoria Bilingue

Se ofrece tutoría bilingüe en matemáticas y lectura a los alumnos de Kinder a 8 grados que necesitan apoyo con la tarea o con la materia, en general. El costo por més de $249 abarca 4 sesiones académicas con una maestra capacitada. Favor de comunicarse tutoring@pishoppe.org para mayor información o para citar una sesión. Se ofrecen becas si existe a necesidad.

Personalized Tutoring

We identify where students may be struggling in foundational skills, and provide a customized plan that supports their strengths, learning style and testing goals.

College Preperatory

For students who know they want to attend college and/or 'Gifted and Talented' students who need more enrichment. Our tutors work with your student to help them reach their full academic potential.


This can start as early as 3rd grade.

Concierge College Admissions

This program is for competitive students who are aiming to attend a top tier university.


Top tier university admissions are a competitive process that can be overwhelming to students and their families

We help students plan ahead, maximize their time and stay on course. This way your student can enjoy creating a memorable high school experience, while still putting their best foot forward for college admission committees.


We only accept a small group of students to participate beginning in 9th grade. This way we can ensure ample time devoted to your students success.
